Read to Achieve/Literacy Program

Our Read to Achieve program will emphasize the importance of literacy by promoting character building traits through education.  The literacy program was implemented to assist in developing life long learners with the understanding that reading is not only fun, but that it can open up a world of possibilities.  At Competitive Elite Sports, we believe that ones ability to read is essential and directly contributes to improving standardized testing and academic achievement.

Read to Achieve is our literacy program that focuses on elevating the reading levels of our participants from youth through the high school years.

The literacy program’s earmarks for success are the following…

  • Competitive Elite Sports Literacy team.
  • Mentorship involvement from current and former NFL players.
  • Parents and or guardians involvement.
  • Motivated and willing students.

To participate in the program the student athlete will be required to read one hour a day up to three times a week.  Part of this time must be spent reading aloud to a parent for 30 minutes.  Each student’s objective will be to read one book per quarter, or four books per year.  Upon completion of each book, the student will write a one to two page book report.  The report will contain the following components…

  • Introduction
  • Setting (where the story takes place)
  • Body (what happens in the story)
  • Climax (turning point in the story)
  • Conclusion

We believe that the students involved in the program will see dramatic improvement in their reading and comprehension skills.  Students that successfully meet their reading goals will be honored at the year end banquet.
